My new year learning strategy, depth year, bla bla bla
Hi, today I'm going to talk about my new goals to achieve this year in terms of life and learning. I know I'm a lad late to do this, but I didn't like the other option, starting the next year, that is.
This is not a new style, it is actually called depth year1, I think.
First of all, what are my goals? And how did I manage to come up with them? Well, I am a really distracted person and I can't simply hold on to one thing without doing another, some of my distractions has uses, some -and the majority of them- don't. This year, I want to deepen my knowledge of the things I already started and I don't want to start new big projects if I can, and yes, French is an exception, thank you. So, let's see my goals;
- No new projects
Yes, you heard that right my love. Instead of jiggling around and wasting my time on things I won't be using, I would like to waste my time in another way, like playing games or studying concepts that I already introduced myself.
This also includes no new languages by the nature of this rule.
- Focus on 2 languages, maximum
This would be easy since I'm already doing it. And for this year the languages would be Chinese (Mandarin) and well, um... French.
- No new hobbies
This rule has so many exceptions, for example, because I moved abroad, I am unable to do figure skating, so I want to start going to gym, this is being active and I am at home literally every day. So, yeah. I am going to try not to start new hobbies unless I have some excuse.
- Not buying new books unless I read books that I already have.
Ok, as an avid language learner, I have so many books that I envy to read, have very little time on my hand to sit and read them. So, this new rule basically applies all of my languages separately, and it means that I have to read all of my books before I buy another one in a language.
- Create more.
Throughout the years I noticed that I consume so much media and content. The thing is I usually get so many ideas and thoughts that I can use to create some sort of content but I don't. I also noticed that I focus too much on my comprehensive skills when learning a language and not productive skills.
So, this year I would like to create more, albeit that creation being a blog post, an app, anything really. And to speak and write more, in all of the languages I know and those that I'm in the process of learning.
Anyways, this was a great idea, I am oh so sure about sticking to this, love you, bye!
